Dr. Xin-Yuan Liu received his Bachelor degree from the department of chemistry, Anhui Normal University in 2001 and a Master degree in 2004 from Anhui Normal University in Cooperation with Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. Then, he became a Ph.D. candidate in Department of Chemistry, the University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Chi-Ming Che, and has been awarded a Ph.D. degree in 2010. He then successfully applied a Post-doctoral Fellow position in the University of Hong Kong and continued to work in the laboratory of Prof. Che. In 2011, he joined in the group of Prof. Carlos F. Barbas III at the Scripps Research Institute for a postdoc position. In September of 2012, Dr. Liu joined in the Department of Chemistry, SUSTech, and has set up an independent organic chemistry’s research group.His research interests are focused on transition-metal and organocatalyst-catalyzed organic chemistry, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, organofluorine chemistry, and the application of chemistry in biological and medicinal chemistry. He has published more than forty research papers in international journals, including Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Chemical Communications, Organic Letters, Chemistry – A European Journal, ACS Catalysis. Citation times for his research papers have been up to 1300. Dr. Liu has been awarded Award for Outstanding Research Postgraduate Student for 2009-2010 in The University of Hong Kong (2011), and so on.
